The Story

Casa Brutus #309 - Utsuwa by Nigo

"NIGO® has enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including vintage clothing, furniture, and toys, but in recent years, he has become obsessed with tableware! He began making pottery in earnest in 2015 and, while collecting famous bowls, came across Kawakita Handeishi, a businessman and potter known as "Rosanjin of the East and Handeishi of the West."

A personal admirer of Handeishi, who left a profound mark on modern pottery, NIGO® follows his master and sources clay to turn the potter's wheel. He frequently visits kilns around the country and creates tea bowls in a wide range of styles, from Ido tea bowls to Hagi ware, Karatsu ware, Kiseto, Shino, Iga, and Raku tea bowls.

Learn the fundamentals and profound world of tableware through NIGO®'s pottery and his collection of famous bowls, spanning modern and contemporary styles."
