Dark Arts Coffee - Mother Tongue - Columbia (250g Whole Bean)
Tasting notes: Grape Candy, Melon, Cashews
- Colombia, Nariño
- Varietal: Caturra
- Process: Honey
-
Altitude: 1700 - 1800masl
Produced by smallholders in the rural areas of Aponte, Nariño, this coffee is grown by approximately 200 farmers who belong to an indigenous reserve. Since 2017, these growers have operated as part of the Regional Plus programme, establishing themselves as pioneers of honey processing in Colombia. This collaborative initiative allows the community to overcome the challenges of low production volumes by pooling their harvest, ensuring economic resilience for the indigenous reserve through specialised processing methods. The coffee is a 100% Caturra microlot, a variety originally from Brazil that is favoured for its natural resistance to plant diseases and higher yields compared to the Red Bourbon variety. The unique environmental conditions of the region, characterised by volcanic ash soil, low relative humidity, and consistent temperatures, allow the cherries to dry slowly and develop a refined profile that achieved a cupping score of +86.
Dark Arts Coffee is a coffee roaster started by friends in East London with twisted visions of using alchemy to combine fire, water and magic beans into a divine elixir.
