The Story
Dark Arts Coffee - Dreams - Rwanda (250g Whole Bean)
- Rwanda, Nyabihu District
- Varietal: Red Bourbon
- Process: Anoxic Natural
- Altitude: 1800 - 2000masl
Produced by smallholders in the Nyabihu District of Rwanda, this coffee is processed at the Shyira washing station, which sits at an elite altitude of 2000 MASL and sources cherries from some of the highest-grown elevations in the country. Since its establishment in 2017 in partnership with Muraho Trading Co., the station has become a focal point for communal tradition and innovation, utilising unique "foot-stomping" fermentation ceremonies and advanced anoxic processing methods. While traditionally centred on the Red Bourbon variety, a specialised nursery project launched in 2018 has successfully introduced Gesha, Nzinza, and Typica varieties to the region to diversify its flavour profile and increase yields. These high-altitude micro-lots, grown in the mineral-rich environment near the base of the Nile’s source, undergo meticulous hand-sorting and extended drying periods on raised beds to ensure a premium specialty grade.
Dark Arts Coffee is a coffee roaster started by friends in East London with twisted visions of using alchemy to combine fire, water and magic beans into a divine elixir.
